The Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region is situated in the south-west of Germany, where the states of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Rhineland Palatinate and Hesse come together. In LaSalle's wellknown European Regional Economic Growth Index (EREGI), this region has been in the Top 20 of European business locations for many years.
With a population of about 2.6 million inhabitants, spread inter alia over the three top centres of Mannheim, Heidelberg and Ludwigshafen, the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region is one of Germany's seven strongest economic hubs.
The Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region is host to the headquarters of not only DAX listed corporations such as BASF and SAP, but also to companies such as MLP, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, HeidelbergCement, Südzucker and Bilfinger, thus providing stimulation on the property market.
The region particularly benefits from its central location in Europe and the outstanding infrastructure with connections to the autobahns A5, A67, A61, A65 and the A6. The main station in Mannheim is the second largest ICE train hub in Germany and the Mannheim/Ludwigshafen port centre is Europe's second largest inland port. The Mannheim City Airport connects the region with both the German capital,
Berlin, and the Hanseatic harbour city of
Hamburg. Furthermore, Frankfurt Airport can be reached by car or by train within only 30 minutes.
Thanks to Heidelberg University, the oldest in Germany, the University of Mannheim with its highlyrecognised business administration courses, and a further 20 state-run or state-recognised universities and colleges of higher education, the region boasts one of the most outstanding educational locations in Germany.
