2-Scheiben-Haus in Ratingen, Germany receives LEED® Platinum Certificate

Frankfurt, 23 March 2011 - The so called 2-Scheiben-Haus in Ratingen is the third office real estate in Germany and first in the Land of North Rhine-Westphalia to be awarded LEED Platinum, the highest rating for sustainable property development. With construction completed in late 2009, early 2010 the recent award by the US Green Building Council appreciates 2-Scheiben-Haus utmost possible sustainability credentials confirming the previous LEED Platinum pre-certificate status.
From the beginning and on behalf of building owner RS& Partner Immobiliengesellschaft mbH, Jones Lang LaSalle coordinated design and construction of the property in view of LEED requirements.
2-Scheiben-Haus is mainly used by an international soft drink producer leasing 7,300m² of the overall 10,700m² office building. Lease requirements stipulate the preservation of the building’s LEED certified qualities. Terms and conditions of the lease agreement have been concluded by Jones Lang LaSalle facilitation.
Amongst many others, the sound ecological balance of 2-Scheiben-Haus has been realized through highest energy-efficiency construction practices, daylight sensed floor lamps, transparent partition walls for optimal daylighting effects, retention of on-site tree populations, realization of a 100% green roof, Green Power procurement, high-efficient water use strategies, and extensive usage of regional construction materials combining with high proportions of recycled material content.
Ulrich Kosche, head of RS& Partner Immobiliengesellschaft mbH: “Basis of this success has been the intensive and focused collaboration within the project team moderated from scratch by Jones Lang LaSalle LEED professionals throughout the entire design and construction phases.”
